U.S. News & World Report’s Best Hospitals rankings are out, and
Hoag is proud to be the highest ranked Orange County hospital for Diabetes
& Endocrinology. This highly-regarded recognition is made possible
by Hoag’s team of endocrinologists, registered nurses, pharmacists,
nurse practitioners, registered dietitians, educators, and health &
wellness coaches. Our diabetes experts serve on national committees and
are involved in pioneering clinical trials, which make Hoag a respected
diabetes prevention and treatment innovator.
The Mary & Dick Allen Diabetes Center opened 10 years ago with a promise to the community to provide dedicated,
advanced care in a welcoming environment. Today, Hoag continues to honor
that commitment by delivering trusted, tested and new methods of helping
patients take control of their diabetes care with inpatient and outpatient
locations throughout Orange County.
The Center maintains a strong clinical and psychosocial research program
with a primary objective of improving the lives of people with diabetes.
Patients have access to cutting-edge technology, such as wearable sensors
and automated insulin delivery systems that simplify diabetes care, as
well as the opportunity to participate in the latest trials and benefit
from donor supported diabetes community programs that are exclusive to Hoag.
“With new technologies, we can partner with our patients to help
identify the best ways to meet their long-term treatment goals,”
said Dr. Ahn. “We are committed to innovating because we see firsthand
how these technological advances change the way we deliver care and improve
the quality of life for our patients.”
Hoag’s diabetes nursing team even provides bedside assessments in
our hospitals to educate and advocate for our patients, ensuring that
clinical teams are working together to optimally manage blood sugar, which
in turn improves recovery time and shortens hospital stays.
From receiving young adults transitioning from pediatric care to counseling
pregnant mothers with gestational diabetes, Hoag offers a variety of services
and resources for diabetes patients, including education classes, support
groups and cooking classes.
