Welcome to the Mary and Dick Allen Diabetes Center

The Allen Diabetes Center provides services for both adults and children with diabetes and offers clinical, educational and support services designed to meet the needs of patients with diabetes and their families. Specialty programs include medical nutrition therapy, ADA accredited diabetes self-management education, Mary and Lee Iacocca Program in Type 1 Diabetes, and “Sweet Success” for pregnant women with diabetes. Our team includes endocrinologists, registered dietitians (RD), diabetes education specialists (CDCES), and registered nurses (RN), among others.

Type 1 Diabetes

The Mary and Lee Iacocca Program in Type 1 Diabetes focuses on meeting the unique needs of all people living with T1D. Whether it's the Herbert Program for Young Adults with T1D, pregnancy counseling, or support groups for people of all ages, our goal is to help patients and their supporters navigate the financial, psychological, social and medical aspects of type 1 diabetes.

The Ueberroth Program for Women with Diabetes at the Allen Diabetes Center dramatically enhances the continuity of care available to women in the community. Our team guides and educates pregnant mothers who are newly diagnosed with gestational diabetes or have previously had diabetes.

The Allen Diabetes Center offers one of the largest diabetes education programs in Southern California. The Center’s team is comprised of diabetes educators, nurses, dietitians, a pharmacist, a physician, and a health and wellness coach.

This program is based on the CDC's Diabetes Prevention Program and is team-centered, integrating personalized nutrition, exercise and behavioral change plans for people with pre-diabetes.
