The Mary & Dick Allen Diabetes Center provides a full range of services for both adults and children with diabetes. Our team includes endocrinologists, certified diabetes care & education specialists (CDCES), registered dietitians (RD), registered nurses (RN), a nurse research coordinator and a national board certified health & wellness coach. Clinical, educational and support services offered here at Hoag are designed to meet the needs of patients with diabetes and their families. Specialty programs include medical nutrition therapy, ADA accredited diabetes self-management education, The Mary & Lee Iacocca Program in Type 1 Diabetes, Herbert Program for Young Adults w

Pre-diabetes
The Mary & Dick Allen Diabetes Center, in collaboration with the Advanced Primary Care Initiative, offers a Healthy Lifestyle Program. This program is based on the CDC’s Diabetes Prevention Program and is team-centered, integrating personalized nutrition, exercise and behavioral change plans for people with pre-diabetes.

The Mary and Lee Iacocca Program in Type 1 Diabetes focuses on meeting the unique needs of all people living with T1D. Whether it’s the Herbert Program for Young Adults with T1D, pregnancy counseling, or support groups for people of all ages, our goal is to help patients and their supporters navigate the financial, psychological, social and medical aspects of type 1 diabetes.

The Ueberroth Family Program for Women with Diabetes at the Allen Diabetes Center dramatically enhances the continuity of care available to women in the community. Our team guides and educates pregnant mothers who are newly diagnosed with gestational diabetes or have previously had diabetes.
