Visiting Hours

Visitor Policy Update as of March 17, 2020

At Hoag, our patient care philosophy depends greatly on engaging families to be part of the healing process. For the continued health and safety of our patients, visitors and staff, and in accordance with guidance from state and local health officials, we are restricting visitors until further notice as follows:

  • Hospital visitors will not be permitted except in very limited circumstances as outlined below. Any visitor that meets one of these criteria will be screened, and will not be permitted to visit if ill (i.e. symptoms including fever, cough, sore throat or runny nose):
    • Patients who are undergoing a procedure or treatment may have one support person
    • Patients in labor may have one support person per stay, from admission to discharge
    • Patients who require assistance including minors and individuals with special needs may have one parent or guardian
    • Acute Rehab patients may have one support person per stay, from admission to discharge.
    • Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) patients may have one parent visit at a time (both parents will be permitted to visit, but not at the same time)
    • End of Life patients may have visitors, which will be coordinated directly with the care team
    • Pet visits are restricted unless it is a service animal or visiting an End of Life patient
  • Visitors who go through the screening and are approved for entry will be provided with an armband to show proof that they were screened/approved. Security will not escort the visitor to any floors.
  • We are screening all visitors to our outpatient facilities. Visitors who are ill will not be permitted to accompany patients.
  • We highly encourage alternative means of communication to provide healing support, such as phone calls, FaceTime, Google Hangouts and Skype.
  • As additional precautions, flower deliveries have been suspended and food deliveries must be made outside the hospital in an effort to limit the number of vendors in the hospital.

The decision to restrict visitors was difficult and made only after careful consideration to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Thank you for your understanding and support as we remain committed to our mission to provide the highest quality health care to the communities we serve.

A customer service representative is available to answer specific financial questions or to receive a payment Monday through Friday in the lobby of the Women's Pavilion.
