Hoag is dedicated to creating the best experience possible for our patients. This visitor information area provides information to help you and those close to you during a hospital stay.

General Information

The Information Desk is located inside the main entrance. Attendants are available to assist with room direction and other information.


As of July 1, 2014, Hoag Hospital Newport Beach has implemented a new parking program. For information or directions for Hoag Hospital Newport Beach, please visit the Patient & Visitor Parking page. This program only applies to Hoag Hospital's Newport Beach campus and has not been implemented at Hoag Hospital Irvine or Hoag Orthopedic Institute at this time. Visiting Hours

We understand the importance of visitors for our patients' emotional, mental and spiritual well-being. Family, friends and clergy may visit during the hours listed below. Please be advised, visitors may be asked by staff to leave, especially if a patient is having a procedure or needs rest, or due to disruptive behavior. Any visitor with symptoms or signs of a communicable illness or disease should not visit the hospital. Also, due to infection control guidelines, children under a certain age may not visit specific areas, as indicated below.

General Medical/Surgical Units/Emergency Department/Outpatient Areas

  • Visiting hours are open.

Mother/Baby Unit (Hoag Hospital Newport Beach only)

  • General visiting hours for guests are from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
  • One adult care partner will be provided 24-hour access to the unit, at the discretion of the patient, and may stay with the new mother and baby overnight throughout their hospital stay.
  • Children visiting the unit must be under the continuous supervision of an adult other than the patient.
  • Siblings are not permitted to spend the night.

Labor and Delivery Unit (Hoag Hospital Newport Beach only)

  • To provide an environment where the patient can be supported by family members during their hospitalization yet allow medical staff to provide the highest level of care, visitors will be allowed in LDR based upon the patient’s condition and at the discretion of the attending physician/nurse in consultation with the patient.
  • Additional visitors are welcome to wait in the family lounge area, which is located on the LDR unit.
  • A visitor under the age of 13 must be accompanied by an adult who is not the patient or birth partner participating in the labor process

Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (Hoag Hospital Newport Beach only)​

  • Parents are welcome from 7:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.
  • Visitors and siblings of the newborn must be accompanied by one parent. (There is a limit of two persons at a time).

Critical Care (ICU/CCU/CVICU/Sub ICU)

Visiting hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.

Chemical Dependency

Family and friends are welcome from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sundays and from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Wednesdays.


There are several lounges throughout the hospital. Please see the floor map to find an appropriate lounge. Family and friends of those having surgery may want to stay in the surgery lounge located next to the Courtyard Café on the first floor of the main hospital.

Patient Billing

A customer service representative is available to answer specific financial questions or to receive a payment Monday through Friday in the lobby of the Women's Pavilion. Telephones/Cellular phones and pagers may be used in the hospital except in the critical care areas (ICU, CCU, CVICU and Sub ICU).


The Hoag Campus is smoke-free - no smoking is allowed.

Automatic Teller Machines (ATMs)

ATMs are available in the convenience center in the cafeteria and on the main floor next to the Health Resource Center.

US Mail Drops

US Mail drop boxes and stamp machines are located at the main entrance of the hospital and in the convenience center.

Concerns or Questions

If there is a concern regarding patient care, please notify the caregiver or a supervisor. Patient Relations representatives can assist with patient rights, problems or concerns. The Patient Relations staff is available from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday at 949-764-8220. If you need immediate assistance after regular business hours, contact the charge nurse or nurse supervisor. They can be reached by calling the hospital operator at 949-764-HOAG (4624).
