the highest ranked hospital in Orange County in the 2020-2021
U.S. News & World Report.
This marks the fourth year in a row Hoag has achieved this level of recognition.
The organization was ranked the #4 hospital in the Los Angeles Metro Area
and the #8 hospital in California. Additionally, Hoag was #27 in Neurology
& Neurosurgery, #29 in Diabetes & Endocrinology, #33 in Pulmonology
& Lung Surgery, #35 in Orthopedics, #37 in Gynecology, #38 in Gastroenterology
and GI Surgery, and #40 in Geriatrics. Hoag ranked high performing in
Cancer, Nephrology and Urology as well as in all ten common adult procedures
including: Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Repair, Aortic Valve Surgery, Colon
Cancer Surgery, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), Heart Bypass
Surgery, Heart Failure, Hip Replacement, Knee Replacement, Lung Cancer
Surgery, and Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR).
Hoag offers a comprehensive blend of health care services that include
five institutes providing specialized services in the following areas:
cancer, heart and vascular, neurosciences, women’s health and orthopedics
through Hoag’s affiliate Hoag Orthopedic Institute, which consists
of an Orthopedic Hospital, four ambulatory surgery centers and two clinics.
Hoag attained the Magnet® recognition as part of the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s
(ANCC) Magnet Recognition Program. This credentialing program for hospitals
recognizes excellence in nursing and is the highest honor an organization
can receive for professional nursing practices.
Additionally, Hoag earned full accreditation with DNV GL Healthcare, the
organization whose accreditation and quality management aligns with Hoag’s
focus on constant improvement.

Recent Major Milestones
- Hoag began its first COVID-19 vaccine trial. Hoag has participated in more
than 20 COVID-19 clinical trials, giving patients access to cutting-edge
therapies and innovative treatments, officials said.
- Hoag continues to be a national leader in robotic assisted surgery and
recently completed its’ 15,000 robotic surgery.
- Hoag Health Center Foothill Ranch opened. The 45,000 square-foot facility
clinically integrates health and wellness, merging the traditional with
prescribed personalized wellness plans.
- Pickup Family Neurosciences Institute at Hoag added the first Machine-Vision
guided 7D Surgical platform to the new brain and spine fully integrated
operating room suites.
