Hybrid Cardiovascular Surgical Suite

Bob & Marjie Bennett Hybrid Cardiovascular Surgical Suite
The newly renovated and expanded
Jeffrey M. Carlton Heart & Vascular Institute is home to three state-of-the-art cardiovascular operating rooms, including
the innovative Bob & Marjie Bennett Hybrid Cardiovascular Surgical Suite.
The new Hybrid Cardiovascular Surgical Suite (Hybrid CVOR), is capable
of supporting Hoag’s specially trained surgical team to provide:
-
Any trans-catheter technology for heart valve, including the revolutionary
Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR) procedure – only available at Hoag Heart & Vascular Institute
-
Hybrid treatment of
atrial fibrillation (via vein, not open heart)
- Trans-aortic valve replacement (through a vein, not open heart)
- Repair of abdominal and thoracic aortic aneurysms without an open incision
(EVAR and TEVAR)
- All endovascular procedures
- Open heart surgery, if necessary
With the introduction of a Hybrid CVOR, cardiac surgery has taken a quantum
leap forward. The new Hybrid CVOR at Hoag Hospital Newport Beach is the
first operating room of its kind in Orange County and serves as an innovative
approach in the delivery of advanced patient care.
That’s because a Hybrid CVOR combines the best elements of an operating
room with the state-of-the-art imaging technology necessary for interventional
heart and vascular procedures. Hoag’s Hybrid CVOR will enable advanced
diagnostic imaging and surgical procedures to be performed simultaneously
in the same room. This will result in safer treatment, shorter hospital
stays, faster recoveries and improved outcomes.
The Hybrid Cardiovascular Surgical Suite is unique in its design as well
as the equipment and advanced navigational technology in the room. At
more than twice the size of a conventional OR, the room can support a
large team in combination with unique equipment. The suite also offers
technology that has been specially designed for Hoag, including a Siemens
Artis Zeego robotic imaging system with 3D and 4D reconstruction and visualization
software for real time navigation through the body; large digital display
screens for video; still imaging; video integration for teleconferencing;
and 2-way video conferencing anywhere in the world.
By combining first rate imaging capabilities within an advanced operating
suite, Hoag cardiac surgeons have unprecedented flexibility in real time
to do what’s best for the patient. This innovative environment also
provides the potential for Hoag surgeons to revolutionize the way Hoag
treats patients by integrating traditional cardiac surgery with endovascular
surgery techniques and technology, further bridging the best of today
with the latest advances of the future.
Patients benefit from Hoag’s new Hybrid CVOR in that they can have
any type of heart procedure without changing locations for imaging, or
different types of procedures. Easily accessible options and accuracy
are key in successful cardiac outcomes, and Hoag’s new Hybrid CVOR
provides both of these elements on a world-class level.
