The Elaine & Robert Matranga Aortic Center at Hoag is a comprehensive program that provides a multidisciplinary, integrated team approach to caring for complex aortic disease. Our mission at the Elaine & Robert Matranga Aortic Center is to provide world-class, personalized care to patients and their families. To achieve this, we have integrated a multidisciplinary team that offers long-term management including active surveillance, advanced treatment options and 24/7 emergency care.
This approach has led Hoag to become the referral center for aortic disease in Southern California and beyond. The Matranga Aortic Center is also proud to care for individuals with Marfan Syndrome and related connective tissue conditions.

Hoag's Aortic Disease Awareness Day Event

Join the Elaine & Robert Matranga Aortic Center to recognize Aortic Disease Awareness Day by uniting with those touched by aortic disease and related connective tissue disorders. Aortic Disease Awareness Day is recognized internationally on September 19. Hoag’s event will bring together patients, families, and our clinical care team for an informative and inspiring evening of camaraderie.
The event will be held at the Jeffrey M. Carlton Heart & Vascular Institute in Newport Beach (South Entrance).

The Society for Thoracic Surgeons rated Hoag’s Cardiac Surgery Program 3 out of 3 stars for aortic surgery—an achievement reached by only the top 1.4% of programs in the country.
High Volume Surveillance Program
Hoag provides ongoing surveillance to actively monitor the size of a patient's aneurysm, watching for signs of growth over time. Surveillance allows Hoag clinicians to act before a life-threatening emergency occurs.

Our aortic center is comprised of a cardiac surgical team, cardiologists, cardiac anesthesiologists, nurse practitioners, and dedicated nursing staff with subspecialized training from top centers in the U.S.
