Diets for GI Disease

  • GERD Diet​​ - For patients needing to decrease symptoms associated with the reflux of gastric fluid into the esophagus.
  • Gastroperesis is often improved with a low fat diet combined with a Low Fiber or Low Residue Diet.
    • ​A Low Fiber Diet is often prescribed as a dietary treatment for Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, acute diverticular disease, colostomy or ileostomy, and before or after lower bowel surgery.
    • A Low Residue Diet is designed to avoid mechanical irritation of the gastrointestinal tract and reduce absorbable residue in the colon.

Tube feeding ​is for any person with a functioning gastrointestinal tract who is unable to eat a normal diet or who is unable to eat enough to stay healthy.
