Newly Expanded Hoag Health Center Huntington Beach Opens Its Doors to the Community

HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif.APRIL 28, 2014 – The newly expanded Hoag Health Center Huntington Beach held its grand opening event on Saturday, April 26, 2014. More than 1,800 residents of Huntington Beach and community members attended the festivities.

Robert T. Braithwaite, Hoag president and CEO, hosted the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony with Jerry Wheeler, Huntington Beach Chamber of Commerce CEO, where he addressed city leaders and the community about the specialized patient-centered approach to healthcare that Hoag is honored to bring to Huntington Beach. Local dignitaries including Huntington Beach Mayor Matthew Harper celebrated alongside Hoag executives Cynthia Perazzo, senior vice president of strategy & business development, Sanford Smith, senior vice president of real estate, facilities, construction and operations, and Dominic Shields, executive director, strategy & business development.

Following the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony, cancer survivors and surf legends Peter (“PT”) Townend and Jericho Poppler together with the Rotary Club of Huntington Beach unveiled a custom surfboard painted by local artist Carole Akins and Hoag cancer patients, that is now on display at Hoag Health Center Huntington Beach. The surfboard is one of several one-of-a-kind art pieces created by acclaimed artists and shapers offered through Surfboards on Parade.

Throughout the day, guests toured the enhanced, state-of-the-art facility, which provides Huntington Beach residents access to additional Hoag Medical Group physicians including pediatrics, enhanced imaging services, expanded breast diagnostic services including Tomosynthesis (3D Mammography), new heart and vascular outpatient services and additional Hoag-affiliated specialists. The center is conceived as a “one stop shop” for health care, with a design that offers both convenience and an enhanced continuity of care and communication among specialists to help individuals take better control of their health.

Attendees also received complimentary Hoag gift bags and enjoyed appearances by Huntington Beach Fire and Police Department personnel, health and wellness demonstrations, face painting, music, and more.
