Leslie Margolin, President and CEO of Pasadena-based, The Margolin Group, Named Board Member at Hoag
Newport Beach, Calif. – Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian today announced it has elected three new Board members with extensive experience in the health care and financial sectors. Leslie Margolin, Karen Linden, R.N., and George Wood, CFA, joined the Hoag Board of Directors for the 2011 – 2012 fiscal year, beginning October 2011.
“We are fortunate to have these three very experienced individuals join our Board of Directors, and look forward to their contributions to Hoag,” said Richard M. Afable, M.D., Hoag’s president and chief executive officer. “Their breadth of experience and expertise will greatly benefit Hoag as we continue to deliver the utmost in quality care to our patients.”
Leslie Margolin, a resident of Altadena, has worked to improve the quality, safety, efficiency, accessibility, and affordability of health care for the past 27 years. Ms. Margolin held executive positions with top health care organizations such as Anthem Blue Cross (California) and Kaiser Permanente and, most recently, established her own company, The Margolin Group™, to drive meaningful and sustainable improvements in cost, quality, and safety in health care.
Karen Linden, R.N., from Newport Beach, served as a medical-surgical nurse with Sunrise Humana Hospital and Desert Springs Community Hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada for nine years, as well as an orthopedic operating nurse and public health nurse in previous positions. Ms. Linden’s history with Hoag dates back to 2002, when she became involved with the Hoag Family Cancer Institute Circle 1000 annual campaign.
George Wood, of Laguna Beach, served as an executive vice president for 15 years with Pacific Investment Management Company (PIMCO), where he helped manage profiles for a variety of clients in health care, foundation and endowments, public plans, and corporate ventures. Mr. Wood has a long career of financial management, holding previous positions with Merus Capital Management, Commerce Bank of Kansas City, and Kansas City Life Insurance Company.
The three new members were elected by the Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian Corporate Members (George Hoag Family Foundation and the Association of Presbyterian Members) at their annual meeting on August 2, 2011, and will serve three-year terms.
Re-elected to the Board by the Corporate Members for three-year terms were Jeffrey H. Margolis, Richard A. Norling, Yulun Wang, Ph.D., and Douglas Zusman, M.D. After serving on the Board for almost 12 years, three of those as Chairman, Richard M. Ortwein will be leaving the Board effective September 30, 2011.
At its September meeting, the Board of Directors re-elected the current officers to serve another year: Chairman – Stephen Jones; Vice-Chairman – Robert W. Evans, and Secretary – John L. Benner. All of these positions are effective October 1, 2011.?
