Hoag Nurse of the Year, Lynda Early, Honored for Nurses Week

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif.May 9, 2014 – Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian announced its 2014 Nurse of the Year as part of the organization's National Nurses Week celebration. This year's recipient is Lynda Early, RN, a fetal diagnostics nurse who was recognized for her expertise, diligence and compassion as a mentor for the entire nursing staff.

Early was described by her peers not only as “an advocate for Hoag, but a true advocate for the patients.” She is admired for going above and beyond the call of duty, “treating Hoag like her home and its patients like her family.”

She has provided patient care at Hoag for more than 14 years and is also actively involved with the March of Dimes to help reduce premature births and birth defects.

“All of our RNs at Hoag are outstanding and it is our privilege to recognize Lynda Early, RN, as our 2014 Nurse of the Year,” said Rick Martin, Ed.D, MSN, RN, senior vice president and chief nursing office of Hoag. “She exemplifies all the qualities of caring, compassion, and professionalism we see on a daily basis from all of our staff, and which is acknowledged by our patients and physicians.”

Her exceptional reputation and commitment to nursing are admired by her peers and her patients. A fellow nurse shared, “Rarely does a day go by when a patient doesn't stop by with their baby to show Lynda the results of her efforts.”
