How to Get the Most Out of Open Enrollment

The choices you make during open enrollment affect you and your whole family. No wonder people feel a little anxious when those open enrollment emails hit their inboxes.

By choosing doctors who are associated with Hoag, you will have access to the highest quality of care.

“By virtue of where you live, you have access to the highest quality care around: Hoag,” said Robert T. Braithwaite, President & CEO of Hoag. “Hoag offers the most advanced technology in the region and access to cutting-edge clinical trials that are changing the future of healthcare.”

Specialists have come to Hoag from renowned medical centers nationwide because they know this is where they can do their best work. Hoag is one of only 330 hospitals nationwide to receive the highest possible distinction in Overall Hospital Quality Star Ratings, a 5-star rating, from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

So, how do you ensure your access to Hoag’s primary care and specialists? Taking these three steps during open enrollment can help you avoid unexpected surprises.

Read. If you are considering a new insurance plan, read it over carefully to make sure the plan gives you access to all of Hoag’s services and medical professionals.

Ask. Talk to your primary care physician (PCP) and any specialist you may see about whether they have access to all of Hoag’s services and facilities. Even if you were able to access Hoag through your PCP in the past, make sure that doctor is still affiliated with the hospital.

Choose. If you are choosing a new PCP, ask if they are part of Hoag Physician Partners (HPP) or Hoag Medical Group (HMG). Choosing a HPP or HMG physician ensures your access to Hoag.
