The New Mom School (formerly OC Mommy and Me)

A school for new moms and their newborns, this program plays a complementary and ongoing role in the health services received prenatally and from your health-care provider. Small classes, limited to 14 moms, are organized by your baby’s birth month to help navigate the realities of motherhood. Classes are a two-part series of 8 weeks each and begin when babies are approximately 3 - 5 weeks of age. It is recommended that moms register for classes while they are pregnant.

New mothers benefit from participating in these groups in a number of ways: by developing social networks and gaining self-confidence, all while acquiring additional relevant information on infant care and parenting. Research shows that ongoing support and education serves as an important provider of health function and transitioning to motherhood, especially with shifting family structures and communities.
