Dr. David Ahn is an endocrinologist and program director of the Mary &
Dick Allen Diabetes Center. In his role, Dr. Ahn participates in research
and provides clinical oversight in outpatient and inpatient environments,
as well as other programmatic opportunities.
He most recently served as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Endocrinology
at UCLA. Dr. Ahn received both his undergraduate and medical school training
at UC San Diego. After completing an internal medicine residency at Scripps
Mercy Hospital in San Diego, he returned to UC San Diego to complete his
fellowship in Endocrinology and Metabolism.
Dr. Ahn is enthusiastic about utilizing medical technology and mobile devices
to empower and improve the health and wellness of people living with diabetes
and other chronic conditions. He has previously served as co-chair of
the Clinical Diabetes Technology Meeting and is frequently invited to
speak about digital health at conferences such as the American Diabetes
Association Scientific Sessions. He currently serves as Technology Editor
of the not-for-profit Taking Control of Your Diabetes (blog.tcoyd.org)
and has been featured in publications such as NPR.org, Diabetes Forecast
Magazine, Medscape, and the Journal of Diabetes Science and Technology.
In June of 2019, Dr. Ahn was named Dr. Kris V. Iyer Endowed Chair in Diabetes
Care at the Mary & Dick Allen Diabetes Center.
