Dr. Mikhael is board-certified in both anesthesiology and pain medicine.
Dr. Mikhael received his medical degree from the University of Mansoura
in Egypt after which he completed residency in emergency medicine, then
went further and finished training in trauma surgery where he obtained
his master degree in general and trauma surgery.
Dr. Mikhael then completed residency in anesthesiology at Harbor-ULCA Medical
Center and completed fellowship training in pain medicine at UC Irvine.
He then joined a private practice where he practices presently for the
last 12 years.
As Program Director of the Pain Medicine Program, within Hoag Neurosciences
Institute at Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian, Dr. Mikhael leads a
group of physicians, mid-level practitioners and a nurse practitioner
to deliver pain management services to in-patients at Hoag. Continuity
of care is also available to these patients through an outpatient practice.
Dr. Mikhael has a specific interest in complicated aspects of chronic pain
including neuropathic and cancer pain and he is an active member of cancer
committees at Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian, Long Beach Memorial
Hospital, and Orange Coast Memorial Hospital.
