Top Care in Orange County

Renowned specialists from around the country are increasingly making Hoag their professional home, which means you don’t need to travel to find the sophisticated, specialized care you need. It has already come to you.

Hoag recently became one of only 429 hospitals out of more than 6,000 nationwide and the only hospital in Orange County to receive a 5-star rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), the highest possible achievement of CMS’s Overall Hospital Quality Star Rating.

And for the sixth consecutive year, U.S. News & World Report’s 2022-2023 Best Hospitals Rankings named Hoag the highest ranked hospital in Orange County, the fourth-best hospital in the Los Angeles metro area and ninth-best in California.

The annual Best Hospitals rankings serve as an important resource to assist patients and their doctors in making informed decisions about where to receive care for challenging health conditions and common elective procedures.

Hoag also ranked high performing (top 10%) in five adult specialties, including Gastroenterology & GI Surgery; Geriatrics; Neurology & Neurosurgery; Pulmonary & Lung Surgery; and Urology, as well as high performing in 19 common adult procedures and conditions, including Aortic Valve Surgery, Back Surgery (spinal fusion), Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), Colon Cancer Surgery, Diabetes, Heart Attack, Heart Bypass Surgery, Heart Failure, Hip Fracture, Hip Replacement, Kidney Failure, Knee Replacement, Lung Cancer Surgery, Ovarian Cancer Surgery, Pneumonia, Prostate Cancer Surgery, Stroke and Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR).

“At Hoag, our culture of innovation inspires our physician leaders to continually seek the most advanced treatments, state-of-the-art technologies and access to clinical trials for our patients. This forward-thinking
vision is why Hoag has remained the highest ranked hospital in Orange County,” Braithwaite said.

“This prestigious national designation is an immense honor, and a well-deserved testimonial to the dedication of our employees, medical staff, volunteers and board who inspire and drive the entire organization each and every day,” said Michael Brant-Zawadzki, M.D., F.A.C.R., Ron & Sandi Simon Executive Medical Director Endowed Chair, Pickup Family Neurosciences Institute, and Senior Physician Executive at Hoag. “Our mission is to empower our patients to achieve their best health—by partnering with them, supporting them to feel confident, and validating their health care decisions.”
