Sand Entrapment Safety

Stay safe in the sand! Shallow hole = Safe hole.

One cubic foot of sand weighs 100 pounds. Please be aware that deep sand holes and tunnels WILL collapse. Stay out of deep holes and avoid digging or tunneling for your own safety. If you are inside a tunnel and it collapses, you can easily become trapped.

Safe Digging Rules:

  1. Never dig deeper than your knees.
  2. Never put your head below the level of the sand. If it collapses you could become entrapped.
  3. Avoid digging or tunneling into the side of the berm, it can collapse easily.
