Letter from the CEO

Dear Neighbors,

It is with great pride that this year marks my 30th anniversary with Hoag and my 10th as the CEO and president of this incredible organization. I remain as humbled by and in awe of Hoag and the people who work here as I was when I first walked through the doors.

Over the years, I have seen our physician leaders perfect, and even invent, procedures and technologies that have changed people’s lives. From breast-conserving oncoplasty to augmented reality platforms that improve surgical accuracy to our Molecular Imaging & Therapy program that is advancing our ability to identify and vanquish cancer. I have had the privilege of watching health care transform before my very eyes – and through yours.

Our patients, volunteers and donors have helped shape Hoag into what it is: a world-class health care system with the heart and soul of a community hospital. You are why Hoag is focused on the next 70 years, and beyond. Largescale reinvestments in our cancer center. Expansion of facilities and services in Irvine. The recruitment of renowned medical experts in women’s health, cancer, digestive health, cardiology and more. Hoag is growing, expanding, innovating and leading.

When I look back at three decades with Hoag, I am in awe of what all our medical professionals have accomplished. But I am not just thinking about the past. I’m excited for the future. Thanks to the support of our generous donors, Hoag is investing billions of dollars to reinvent health care, shifting the industry’s focus to whole-person care to prevent disease, not just treat it.

As new buildings go up and new medical innovators grace our halls, I look forward to witnessing the next decade of medical transformation at your side. Through it all, Hoag will be here for you. Today. Tomorrow. For Life.

Sincerely,

Robert T. Braithwaite

President & CEO
