From national honors of distinction to local awards, Hoag has received
some of the most prestigious and coveted accolades in health care, underscoring
our commitment to patient-centered care.
From our ranking in the
U.S. News & World Report’s “Best Regional Hospital,” to our
Magnet® designation by the American Nursing Credentialing Center, to our fourth year listed as a
Becker’s “100 Greatest Hospitals in America,” Hoag has a proven track
record of patient satisfaction and quality care. In 2016, Hoag received
a Center of Excellence in Robotic Surgery accreditation from the Surgical
Review Corporation for demonstrating an unparalleled commitment and ability
to consistently deliver safe, effective, evidence-based care.
“We serve a discerning and sophisticated community that demands the
highest level of care available. That is what we strive to provide day
in and day out,” said
Robert T. Braithwaite, president and CEO of Hoag. “I am enormously proud of our doctors, nurses and entire staff
for making Hoag the truly remarkable health network it is.”
Our world-renowned
specialty institutes have also received a number of awards and distinctions this past year.

Level 3 Epilepsy Center by the Orange County Health Care Agency. In addition,

management aligns with Hoag’s focus on constant improvement.

Newport Beach and Irvine hospitals are designated Cardiovascular Receiving
Centers (CVRC) by the Orange County Emergency Medical Services.
“Our list of accomplishments does not just come from hard work and
years of expertise. It is also motivated by our intense desire to treat
patients like people,” Braithwaite said. “I would say that
chief among our accomplishments is our consistent high level of patient
satisfaction and outcomes.”
In fact, a laser-focus on patient outcomes is one of the metrics many accreditation
organizations and industries use when evaluating Hoag so favorably.
Hoag Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Medicine Center, for instance, was honored by Healogics™ with the Center of Distinction
Award for achieving outstanding patient outcomes for 12 consecutive months.
Hoag Orthopedic Institute (HOI) has performed more total hip and knee replacements than any other provider
in the state of California. Most recently, HOI has been recognized by
the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) as the only hospital
in Orange County and only one of two in Orange County/Los Angeles to earn
the highest, ‘five-star’ rating for patient experience. HOI
was also the recipient of the 2016
Press Ganey Pinnacle of Excellence Award® and Guardian of Excellence Award®
for consistently maintaining high levels of excellence, in the 95th percentile
or higher, for patient experience.
“We are exceptionally proud of our people,” Braithwaite said.
“To a person, everyone in this organization is focused on improving
the state of health care for the community and the individual. And it
shows.”
