Serving the Orange County Community

Dear Neighbors,

These last few months have tested our strength as a nation and a community. Together, we have risen to the challenge. As they have done throughout Hoag’s history, our generous community of supporters -- including patients, donors, families, organizations, first responders and essential workers -- have rallied in support of one another and Hoag.

Hoag was chosen to care for the state’s first known COVID-19 patient, who I am pleased to share has since fully recovered. Meanwhile, our compassionate community of recovered COVID-19 patients was among the first to volunteer to donate “convalescent plasma,” selflessly providing antibodies from their blood that could save their neighbors’ lives.

Together, Hoag’s clinicians, staff, patients and supporters are participating in global clinical trials that are testing promising therapies to end the pandemic. And in the midst of this public health crisis, we continue to look forward to expanding our services, and propelling Orange County towards healing and wellness.

Generous philanthropic support from our community allows us to continue to lead in clinical innovation, including robotic surgery. And our nursing practice received its fourth Magnet designation, a feat that honors the skill and commitment of Hoag’s nurses in high quality patient care.

As we push ourselves to achieve the remarkable possibilities of modern medicine, I am awestruck by the courage and dedication of our entire Hoag family and the community we serve. I am proud that, together, we are facing this challenging time by displaying the hallmarks of Hoag’s unique relationship with the community -- unwavering support, respect, kindness and compassion.

Sincerely,

Robert T. Braithwaite
