Choose Hoag During Open Enrollment

Open enrollment season is here and choosing the right health insurance plan is more important than ever. With so many changes in health care, Hoag is here to help you make the right health care choices for you and your family.

To ensure that you have access to Hoag, it’s as easy as 1, 2, 3:

1. Choose your doctor. Depending on your health insurance plan, you may need to select a primary care physician from an approved network or list. Choose from one of the following:

Hoag Medical Staff Physicians – Our medical staff includes more than 1,500 physicians delivering world-class care across 52 different specialties.

Hoag Medical Group – Hoag Medical Group (HMG) is a physician group with specialties in internal medicine, family medicine, pediatrics, geriatrics, endocrinology, rheumatology, sports medicine, genetics, diabetes, allergy & immunology, HIV and addiction medicine. HMG offers same day appointments, unrushed personalized visits, and direct access to all of Hoag’s facilities and services.

For additional specialized care, HMG is aligned with Hoag Affiliated Physicians (HAP), a comprehensive specialist network that includes more than 300 physicians representing nearly 50 specialties. These experts work closely with HMG physicians to ensure a seamless transition and continuity of care that you expect from Hoag.

Greater Newport Physicians – Greater Newport Physicians (GNP) is an Independent Practice Association (IPA) of physicians who provide care to patients with HMO coverage. It is important to understand that GNP has several hospital networks, however the ONLY network that will guarantee your access to Hoag Hospital, when hospitalization is needed, is the GNP/Hoag Hospital Network. Also, please note that through GNP you will have limited access to some of Hoag services, such as imaging, radiation therapy and urgent care locations. 2. Choose your health insurance plan. By participating in most major health insurance plans and networks, Hoag makes it easy to obtain the best health care available. Read through your insurance plan options to determine what network(s) your physician participates in, as well as the benefits and limitations of each option to learn what is covered before you require care. Understand what type of plan (HMO, PPO, Medicare, Medicare Advantage) would work best for the needs of you and your family.

3. Choose your hospital. Some health insurance plans and medical groups require that you choose a hospital should you need hospital services while covered. Make sure you are choosing Hoag as your in-network hospital. For more than 60 years, Hoag has been an industry leader, setting the bar in prevention, diagnosis, treatment and follow-up care. Hoag was rated one of America’s Top 50 Hospitals by an independent health care research firm for ranking in the top 1 percent nationally for clinical quality, in addition to being named the most preferred hospital by Orange County residents in a consumer study for 19 consecutive years.

We recognize that choosing health care services for you and your family is important. That is why Hoag’s Personal Service Team is available to assist you and answer your questions.
