1. Choose a plan Hoag accepts from your health insurance plan options. By participating in most every major health insurance plan and network, Hoag makes it easy to obtain the finest medical treatment available. Read through your insurance plan options to determine what network(s) your physician participates in, as well as the benefits and limitations of each option to learn what is covered before you need care. Understand what type of plan (HMO, PPO, Medicare, Medicare Advantage) would work best for the needs of you and your family.

2. Choose a doctor affiliated with Hoag. Depending on your insurance plan, you may need to select a primary care physician from an approved network or list of doctors. To ensure access to Hoag, choose from one of the following:

Greater Newport Physicians Greater Newport Physicians (GNP), is an Independent Practice Association (IPA) of physicians who provide comprehensive care to patients with HMO coverage. In order to ensure access to Hoag Hospitals and other Hoag services through GNP, you must select the GNP/Hoag Hospital network option.

3. Choose Hoag as your preferred hospital. Some health insurance plans and medical groups require that you choose a hospital should you need hospital services while covered.
