100 hospitals and health systems with great neurosurgery and spine programs | 2015

Becker’s Hospital Review has named Hoag to the 2015 edition of its list, “100 hospitals and health systems with great neurosurgery and spine programs.”

The organizations on this year’s list are remarkable leaders in neurosciences, providing treatment for patients with various brain and spine conditions.

To develop this list, the Becker’s Hospital Review selected hospitals for inclusion based on national rankings and awards received from several institutions. For instance, the team examined U.S. News & World Report national and regional rankings for neurology and neurosurgery, CareChex rankings for neurological care, neurosurgery and spine surgery, BlueDistinctionCenter for Spine Surgery designation, Healthgrades awards for spine surgery, neurosurgery and stroke care, and Magnet designation for nursing excellence.

Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian. In spring 2014, Irvine, Calif.-based Hoag launched its Hoag Neurosurgery Spine Program at Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian. The Magnet-recognized hospital in Newport Beach also is home to the integrated Advanced Brain and Spine Care Unit, part of the system’s Pickup Family Neurosciences Institute. The unit houses all inpatients who have diagnoses related to the brain and spine and is staffed by trained neurosciences physicians and other clinicians. CareChex has ranked the hospital in the top 50 in the nation for neurological surgery in its latest rankings.
