Ellen Kim, LCSW, APHSW-C is an experienced Licensed Clinical Social Worker and the inpatient palliative care social worker and bereavement coordinator at Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian.

Ellen values the work of providing support to patients with life-limiting illnesses and their families during their most vulnerable time of their lives and considers it a privilege to be able to guide and walk alongside them while advocating for patients’ individual choice and wishes.

Ellen also helps train ICU nurses to integrate palliative care into the ICU through the IMPACT ICU program and enjoys supporting bedside nurses. Ellen speaks Korean and Japanese and finds it rewarding to advocate for non-English speaking Korean and Japanese patients and family members and works closely with a local non-profit organization in Orange County to raise awareness about advance care planning and palliative care options in the Korean American community.

Ellen is passionate about cooking and nutrition and teaches Global Health Eating Classes for Hoag cancer patients. When Ellen is not keeping busy, she can be found hiking, running, or spending time with her husband and daughter. Ellen received a Bachelor of Arts in History from University of California, Los Angeles and a Master of Social Work degree from California State University, Los Angeles.
