MS Took Away One Woman’s Confidence to Run. Hoag Health Center Foothill Ranch’s Lifestyle Program Gave It Back.

As someone who suffers from multiple sclerosis, Corrie Doppert never imagined that she could fluidly navigate from one piece of gym equipment to the next, discuss her healthy eating habits with her registered dietitian and celebrate her improved balance, strength and coordination with her health coach.

But then Corrie learned about the Hoag Lifestyle Program offered at Hoag Health Center Foothill Ranch on social media, and she decided to check it out. Today, Corrie can’t believe the difference the 60-day program has made in her life.

“The minute I met with my primary care physician and they prescribed me the program, the success started,” Corrie said. “From day one it’s been a supportive team. I love the workouts. I never thought I would say that.”

A clinically integrated health and wellness experience, Hoag Health Center Foothill Ranch is equipped with a state-of-the-art BIOCIRCUIT™ studio, the first-of-its-kind on the West Coast. The machines are tailored to each person’s specific settings and “remember” a person’s previous workouts, goals and successes.

Corrie said Hoag Lifestyle Program Manager Lori Mueller “introduced me to all the machinery and explained how I could be successful working out, which is not something I ever thought I could do in my life.”

For years, Corrie had been reticent about working out, due to her MS and balance issues. What she learned through the Hoag Lifestyle Program gave Corrie the confidence to pursue exercise outside the walls of the health center.

“I do daily walks and runs. That’s something I learned here,” she said. “My balance has gotten better, I have learned to eat healthier. I will be exercising daily for the rest of my life because I feel so much stronger.”

Corrie said she is grateful to have discovered the program and marvels at what a difference it has made in her life.

“Anybody who has ever had thoughts of working out but didn’t think it would be possible, I would recommend the program,” she said. “The minute you walk in the door you’re set up for success. You feel like you have everyone on your team to reach your health and wellness goals.”
