Newport Beach, Calif. (June 11, 2013) —Hoag Hospital Foundation’s 552 Club announced it will host its longstanding annual summer event, now called the Summer Movie Classic, at The Hangar in Costa Mesa at the Orange County Fairgrounds on Wednesday, June 26, 2013 at 5 p.m. The event will feature tastings from more than 30 of Orange County’s finest restaurants alongside a private screening of the Hollywood classic, Casablanca. Tickets are now on sale at hoagmoviescreening.org.

The event began in 1988 and to date has raised over $1 million for Hoag Hospital Newport Beach and Hoag Hospital Irvine. The popular movie event, which draws more than 1200 guests annually, was formerly called the Movie Screening and held at Edwards Big Newport Cinema.

“This Hoag 552 Club event has been one of Orange County’s largest and most anticipated community events each summer, thanks in large part to dedicated supporters including long-time hosts Jim and Patti Edwards,” Sheri Horn said, event co-chair with her husband Brian. “We are excited to present this reimagined Summer Movie Classic in our new venue with one of Hollywood’s most celebrated classic films and so many great restaurants. This will be a night to remember for all who attend in support of Hoag and the patients and communities they serve.”

Concordia University Irvine is the presenting sponsor for this year’s event. “Timely and relevant partnerships such as Hoag’s Summer Movie Classic help us achieve our goal of delivering a timely and relevant education in our Healthcare Management program at Concordia University Irvine,” said Stephen Duarte, M.H.A., Ed.D, Academic Program Director and Assistant Professor at Concordia University Irvine. “Hoag is a healthcare delivery innovator and inventor of tomorrow. They understand what is needed, refine it, and then deliver it as humble servants of the healthcare profession and the community at large. Partnering with Hoag is a privilege.”
