NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. –
May 9, 2014 – Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian announced its 2014 Nurse of the Year
as part of the organization's National Nurses Week celebration. This
year's recipient is Lynda Early, RN, a fetal diagnostics nurse who
was recognized for her expertise, diligence and compassion as a mentor
for the entire nursing staff.
Early was described by her peers not only as "an advocate for Hoag,
but a true advocate for the patients." She is admired for going above
and beyond the call of duty, "treating Hoag like her home and its
patients like her family."
She has provided patient care at Hoag for more than 14 years and is also
actively involved with the March of Dimes to help reduce premature births
and birth defects.
“All of our RNs at Hoag are outstanding and it is our privilege to
recognize Lynda Early, RN, as our 2014 Nurse of the Year,” said
Rick Martin, Ed.D, MSN, RN, senior vice president and chief nursing office
of Hoag. “She exemplifies all the qualities of caring, compassion,
and professionalism we see on a daily basis from all of our staff, and
which is acknowledged by our patients and physicians.”
Her exceptional reputation and commitment to nursing are admired by her
peers and her patients. A fellow nurse shared, "Rarely does a day
go by when a patient doesn't stop by with their baby to show Lynda
the results of her efforts."
