April Sutherland, LMFT

April Sutherland is a Licensed Marriage and Family therapist with the ASPIRE, a teen outpatient mental health program, and the Young Adult Mental Health Program at Hoag since 2020. As a clinician she is interested in supporting teens, young adults, and their families get through daily obstacles as well as teach coping strategies to reduce anxiety, depression, anger, interpersonal conflict, etc. April earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology at University of California, San Diego. She earned her Master of Science in Counseling emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy from California State University of Long Beach. She is trained in working with children, teens, adults, and families with a specific scope in DBT, crisis prevention, and behavior modification. Prior to becoming a Licensed Clinician, she mentored youth through AmeriCorps and engaged in Applied Behavior Analysis with children on the spectrum.
