Prerna Rao has been a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist for close to a decade and has worked in the field of Mental Health for over 15 years. Her experience ranges from working in adolescent inpatient and substance abuse, included but not limited to; CA probation, department of children and family services, foster youth and juvenile detention centers. In addition she has had the privilege of managing several facilitates both operational and clinically, as a Clinical Director/ Clinical Supervisor. After completing her master’s program, she then moved on to work with adults in locked psychiatric hospitals ranging from dual diagnosis to primary mental health. She has a wide range of experience working in the nonprofit sector related to Medi-Cal patients, documentation standards and working closely with the Department of Mental Health. Along with this, she has a private practice and currently teaches at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology, Adjunct Faculty for Masters level students. Prerna’s management style comes from her ability to mentor, guide, and nurture as well as educate all while ensuring patient care is followed daily. Her style is based on the foundational work that future interns and licensed therapist abide by all legal and ethical practices as she has been trained in. Her passion for mental health continues in the outpatient setting, related to her own private practice specializing in the Asian American demographic.
