Rick Martin has been Vice President of Patient Care Services and Chief
Nursing Officer at Hoag Hospital since 1992. In this role, Mr. Martin
oversees all nursing departments, Hoag Women's Health Services, as
well as a variety of patient care services, including the emergency care
unit, perioperative services, pharmacy and infection control.
He previously served as Assistant Vice President of Specialty Care for
Hoag Hospital. Prior to joining Hoag Hospital, Mr. Martin was Assistant
Vice President of Patient Care Services at HCA Lewis-Gale Hospital in
Mr. Martin is active on numerous nursing committees and boards, several
of which were formed in response to the state and national nursing shortage.
In the late 1990s, he was appointed to the Scott Commission, a panel of
nursing industry leaders, to address the nursing shortage in California.
He also serves on the VHA National Nursing Leadership Council, the Orange
County Nurse Executive Council, and on the Advisory Board for Nurseweek.
At California State University, Long Beach, Mr. Martin is on the Advisory
Board and Adjunct Faculty for the School of Nursing.
