Dr. Allyson Brooks is the Chief Quality Officer, Hoag and the Ginny Ueberroth
Executive Medical Director Endowed Chair of the Women's Health Institute
at Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian where she is responsible for establishing
Hoag as a center of excellence in women's health and wellness, and
oversees the components and services. In April 2015 she was one of ten
physician executives to complete a nationally acclaimed two-year fellowship
in leadership from the Health Management Academy. Dr. Brooks has an extensive
background in leadership at Hoag since joining its medical staff in 1993.
In addition to her three year term on the Medical Executive Committee
and as Chair of the Department of OB/Gyn, Dr. Brooks was an elected physician
member of the Hoag Board of Trustees for six years including being Chair
of the Quality Improvement Committee of the Board for four years.
Dr. Brooks is a board-certified Obstetrician/Gynecologist and an AAGL Center
of Excellence in Minimally Invasive Gynecology (COEMIG™) designee,
who recently retired after 21 years in private practice in Newport Beach.
During the course of her clinical practice Dr. Brooks delivered over 2,000
babies, provided comprehensive and compassionate health care to women
of all life stages and from ages 12 through 92, performed over 1,000 minimally
invasive gynecologic surgical procedures including robotic- and laparoscopic-assisted
hysterectomies, achieved the coveted designation as a physician of excellence
in minimally invasive gynecology from the AAGL (American Academy of Gynecologic
Laparoscopists), received Most Compassionate and Best Doctor awards, and
was recognized as one of the top 10 people to watch in Newport Beach by
Newport Beach Magazine.
Dr. Brooks grew up in Ventura, CA, the eldest of four children born to
an attorney and a professional homemaker. As a freshman at Stanford University
she met her future husband, Andy Brooks. After college graduation they
moved to Orange County where she completed medical school, internship
and residency in OB/Gyn at UC Irvine. The Brooks' have lived in Newport
Beach for 30 years, raising three sons and four Labrador retrievers and
recently celebrating 26 years of marriage.
