    Deliver Your Baby at Hoag

Hoag provides Orange County’s largest maternity program, with two premier maternity hospitals designed to provide exceptional clinical expertise, safety, comfort, and personalized care throughout every stage of the birth experience.

At both Hoag Hospital Newport Beach and Hoag Hospital Irvine, patients experience private rooms throughout their journey from evaluation in our dedicated Obstetric Emergency Departments (OB EDs) and triage areas through labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum care. This private environment provides patients and families with comfort and privacy while receiving specialized care from our experienced maternal and newborn teams.

Both campuses offer 24/7 access to Maternal-Fetal Medicine specialists, OB Hospitalists, Neonatologists, dedicated anesthesia services, Level III NICUs, and Transitional Nurseries for newborns who may need additional monitoring or support following birth.

Our nurses are specially trained to provide individualized support throughout labor and birth, with an emphasis on helping patients feel comfortable, informed, and actively involved in their experience. Nursing teams are trained in a variety of evidence-informed labor-support techniques, including movement and positioning, use of birthing balls and other positioning tools, breathing and relaxation techniques, hands-on comfort measures, strategies to support labor progression, and non-pharmacologic approaches to pain management. These techniques can be incorporated alongside medical pain-management options based on each patient’s preferences and clinical needs.

Hydrotherapy is also available at both campuses when clinically appropriate as an option for comfort and pain relief during labor. At Hoag Hospital Irvine, select birthing suites feature built-in labor tubs, offering patients an additional option for hydrotherapy, comfort, and pain relief during labor. The tubs are intended for comfort and pain relief during labor and are not used for delivery.

Patients are also welcome to bring their own doula or chosen support person. While Hoag does not provide doulas, our nursing teams work collaboratively with patients, families, doulas, support people, midwives, physicians, and the broader care team to support each patient’s individual birth preferences.

Whether you choose Hoag Newport Beach or Hoag Irvine, you and your family can expect privacy, clinical expertise, personalized options, and a nursing team trained to support you through every phase of labor, birth, recovery, and newborn care.
