While we hope every pregnancy and delivery proceeds as expected, our teams are prepared to provide additional expertise or a higher level of care when needed. Through advanced maternal-fetal medicine services, a dedicated Obstetric Emergency Department (OB ED), and a Level III NICU, Hoag Newport Beach provides comprehensive maternal and newborn care throughout pregnancy, labor, delivery, recovery, and the postpartum period.

    State-of-the-Art Facilities

The Sue & Bill Gross Women’s Pavilion at Hoag Hospital Newport Beach is home to one of Orange County’s most comprehensive maternal and newborn care programs. Our experienced obstetric, maternal-fetal medicine, neonatal, anesthesia, and nursing teams work together to provide personalized, family-centered care for both routine and high-risk pregnancies.

The Women’s Pavilion at Hoag Hospital Newport Beach includes:

    • An advanced fetal diagnostic testing unit

    • A dedicated Obstetric Emergency Department (OB ED)

    • 7 private antepartum beds for patients who require additional monitoring or care before delivery

    • 18 private labor, delivery, and recovery suites

    • 49 private postpartum rooms designed to support recovery, bonding, and family-centered care

    • An expanded Level III NICU with 33 beds, including 12 additional NICU beds to increase access to specialized neonatal care for premature, critically ill, and medically complex newborns

    • Beginning in October 2026, a dedicated twin NICU room, designed to allow twins requiring specialized care to remain together in the same room when clinically appropriate

    • A Transitional Nursery for newborns who may benefit from additional monitoring or support following birth

    • Hydrotherapy options, when clinically appropriate, for comfort and pain relief during labor

    • Specially trained nurses who provide individualized labor support through movement and positioning, breathing and relaxation techniques, hands-on comfort measures, and other non-pharmacologic approaches to pain management

The expansion of our Newport Beach NICU to 33 beds strengthens Hoag’s ability to care for more newborns requiring advanced neonatal services while supporting an environment that keeps babies and families at the center of care.

From evaluation and antepartum care through labor, delivery, postpartum recovery, and advanced neonatal care, patients and families have access to private spaces and an experienced multidisciplinary team throughout their birth journey at Hoag Newport Beach.

    Mother and Baby Unit

The 49-bed postpartum unit is a sanctuary for new families to recover and bond. Hoag had adopted a policy of “non-separation” and newborns room-in with their mothers in the spacious family-centered postpartum rooms. The nursery is primarily used as a transitional nursery for examinations by a baby’s physician and for circumcisions.
