    Visitor Screening

    A safe environment

    Visitor screening is being employed at Hoag Hospital to provide the safest possible environment for our patients, staff and visitors. Upon entering the hospital, visitors over the age of 14 will be screened. Please be prepared to show your driver’s licenses or other government identification when entering the hospital. Hoag is a weapons free campus. Weapons of any kind, including pocket knives, are prohibited on campus.

    Visitor Policy

    Hoag will no longer be limiting the number of visitors except for in the following areas:

    Labor and Delivery Unit

    The patient is allowed to rotate one support person at a time in the recovery room (upon approval of recovery room nurse).

    Antepartum Unit

    The patient is allowed to rotate one support person at a time in the recovery room (upon approval of recovery room nurse).

    Neonatal Intensive Care Unit

    Visitation is restricted to parents and siblings over 12. Only two visitors are permitted at one time.

    Newport Beach

    Special Care Nursery

    Visitation is restricted to parents and siblings over 12. Only two visitors are permitted at one time.

    Irvine

    Mother Baby Unit

    Visitation is 9 AM to 9 PM, one support person is allowed to stay 24 hours per mother’s discretion.

    Newport Beach and Irvine

    Critical Care

    Open visitation except during the hours of 7 AM to 8 AM and 7 PM to 8 PM. Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and Special Care Nursery - Visitors (not parents) are restricted from the unit during hand-off report times from 6:30 AM to 7:30 AM and 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM.

    Children

    Children of all ages are allowed to visit when accompanied by an adult 18 years of age or older except for in the NICU and Special Care Nursery. Children are not permitted to visit patients in isolation.

    Cafeteria

    Visitors have access to the hospital cafeteria.

    Illness

    Visitors who are ill are not allowed.

    Respiratory symptoms

    Patients with respiratory symptoms will be asked to wear a mask.

    General Information

    The Information Desk is located inside the main entrance. Attendants are available to assist with room direction and other information.

    Patient Billing

    A customer service representative is available to answer specific financial questions or to receive a payment Monday through Friday in the lobby of the Women’s Pavilion. Telephones/Cellular phones and pagers may be used in the hospital except in the critical care areas (ICU, CCU, CVICU and Sub ICU).

    Smoking

    The Hoag Campus is smoke-free – no smoking is allowed.

    Automatic Teller Machines (ATMs)

    ATMs are available in the convenience center in the cafeteria and on the main floor next to the Health Resource Center.

    US Mail Drops

    US Mail drop boxes and stamp machines are located at the main entrance of the hospital and in the convenience center.

    Concerns or Questions

    If there is a concern regarding patient care, please notify the caregiver or a supervisor. Patient Relations representatives can assist with patient rights, problems or concerns.

    The Patient Relations staff is available from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday at (949) 764-8220.

    If you need immediate assistance after regular business hours, contact the charge nurse or nurse supervisor. They can be reached by calling the hospital operator at (949) 764-HOAG (4624).
