The Graduate Medical Education (GME) Department at Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian is dedicated to training the next generation of medical professionals in a dynamic, patient-centered environment. The mission of Graduate Medical Education at Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian is to offer exemplary postgraduate training opportunities in a Privademic environment. An active affiliation agreement must be on file with Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian in order to rotate at the institution. If an agreement needs to be initiated, the process can take up to 120 days. Requirements for PA Students Interested in a Clinical Rotation

Prospective PA students are not permitted to contact Hoag providers directly regarding precepting. All contact and requests must go through your school’s clinical coordinator or program director, following the instructions below:

1. Confirm your school’s affiliation.

Verify with your clinical coordinator or program director that your school has a current student affiliation agreement with Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian.

2. Confirm preceptor affiliation.

Verify with your clinical coordinator or program director that your school is affiliated with a Hoag preceptor for your desired rotation.

3. Submit a rotation request.

Have your clinical coordinator or program director submit a rotation request on your behalf to: GMEOffice@hoag.org.

If the rotation request is approved and confirmed, students will be asked to provide the following as part of Hoag’s student onboarding requirements:

• Proof of immunization or positive serology titer for rubella, measles, and mumps

• Proof of annual influenza vaccine or declination

• Proof of immunization, positive serology titer, or immunity by history of disease for varicella

• Evidence of Hepatitis B, either positive antibody titers or immunizations

Annual proof of negative tuberculosis testing by Purified Protein Derivative PPD skin test. Any student who has a positive PPD skin test will be required to provide evidence of a negative chest X-ray report taken within one year of their initial date of participation in the program.
