What is Bariatric Surgery?

Also known as weight-loss surgery, bariatric surgery limits the amount of food you’re able to comfortably eat and/or decreases your absorption of food and calories. Bariatric surgery is considered the most successful weight-loss treatment option because it modifies gut hormones that signal hunger, resetting the body’s metabolism.

Hoag Support Groups are designed for sharing personal insight and real world experiences about the weight loss journey with an intent to help patients create and maintain the necessary lifestyle changes to achieve success long term. We emphasize the importance of all weight loss pillars of success – incorporating physical activity, developing healthy coping mechanisms and establishing a strong support system through support groups and community.

As a group, you gain insight into challenges others are facing and tips for success. More importantly, you find comfort in knowing you are not alone in your journey.
