Hoag Named Title Sponsor of USA Surfing Championships at Olympic Venue Lower Trestles

SAN CLEMENTE, Calif. (June 4, 2025) – USA Surfing is proud to announce Hoag as the title sponsor of the 2024 USA Surfing Championships at Lower Trestles – the iconic break and host site of the LA 2028 Olympic Games surfing competition.

Often called the “Super Bowl of youth surfing,” the USA Surfing Championships at Lowers features the top under-18 surfers in the country, who have battled their way through elite regional competitions on the East Coast, West Coast, and Hawaii. Athletes will compete for national titles and the opportunity to be named to USA Surfing’s Junior National Team—a critical step on the path to Olympic podiums and pro tour success.

Past champions include the current best in the world. Caroline Marks, the 2024 Olympic gold medalist, still holds the record for the most USA Surfing Championship titles at Lowers.

“The USA Surfing Championships at Lower Trestles are where America’s next generation of surfing legends take flight said USA Surfing CEO Becky Fleischauer. “We’re thrilled to have Hoag’s support—a local health care leader with global-caliber expertise in sports medicine and athlete performance. Their commitment to the whole athlete and surf community align perfectly with USA Surfing’s mission.”

Hoag is a health care system renowned for serving Orange County with a holistic, high-performance approach to health, including world-class expertise in orthopedics, sports medicine, and integrated wellness. The partnership between Hoag and USA Surfing reflects a shared commitment to helping young athletes develop, thrive, and compete at the highest levels.

Hoag family medicine physician Dr. William “Kurt” Armstrong, a member of USA Surfing’s High Performance Committee, brings decades of experience supporting youth athletes’ health, injury prevention, and performance optimization.

“Surfing is one of the most demanding and dynamic sports out there—it requires precision, strength, flexibility, and resilience,” said Dr. Armstrong. “Hoag is honored to support these athletes as they push their limits. It’s about protecting their health today and building habits that serve them for a lifetime.”

The 2025 USA Surfing Championship at Lowers promises a glimpse into the future of Olympic surfing—with the waves, competition format, and athlete training all echoing what fans will see on the world stage in just three years.
