Sophia S. Jones

Dr. Sophia Jones knew she wanted to become a physician from the age of 10, when she first became fascinated by medicine and the human body. That early curiosity led her to pursue an MD/PhD from the University of California, Irvine, College of Medicine, followed by residency training at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. 

Dr. Jones chose pediatrics because of the opportunity to care for children and families during some of life’s most meaningful moments. She considers every baby a small miracle and feels honored to share in such a special time in a family’s life. One of the most rewarding parts of her work is seeing her patients go home safely with their families. 

At the heart of Dr. Jones’s approach is family-centered, team-based care. She believes caring for a newborn also means supporting the parents and family around them with warmth, reassurance and clear communication. She also values the collaboration of nurses, physicians and staff, recognizing that providing excellent care depends on everyone working together as a team. 

Outside of medicine, Dr. Jones enjoys photography, particularly sports photography, which has taken her to a variety of sporting events and venues. She also enjoys traveling, spending time with family and friends, and learning new languages. Her interest in languages reflects her appreciation for connecting with people from different backgrounds and finding ways to bring people together.
