Kelly L. Dodge

Kelly Dodge, MD, FACEP is a board-certified emergency physician and accomplished medical leader with extensive experience spanning academic medicine, pre-hospital care, and emergency department operations. She currently serves as a emergency physician with Emergency Physicians of Orange County at Hoag Presbyterian Hospital in Newport Beach, California, where she also holds the role of Base Hospital Medical Director. In her capacity as Medical Director, Dr. Dodge provides clinical oversight for pre-hospital care systems to ensure the delivery of high-quality, protocol-driven care in the field. She plays a central role in developing and implementing treatment guidelines, quality improvement initiatives, and continuing education programs that support first responders and align pre-hospital practices with the latest evidence-based standards. Dr. Dodge is actively involved in initiatives aimed at advancing clinical excellence, including participation in multidisciplinary committees focused on critical care pathways such as cardiogenic shock, STEMI, and ECMO. She additionally serves as the Medical Director for runDisney events at Disneyland, overseeing large-scale athletic medical operations. Dr. Dodge earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology with Honors from Boston College and her Doctor of Medicine from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. She completed her emergency medicine residency at Yale-New Haven Hospital, where she served as Chief Resident and later joined the faculty as an Assistant Professor. During her time at Yale, she was a leader in simulation-based medical education, serving as Director of Resident Simulation and Associate Director of Healthcare Simulation, and contributing to national advancements in medical training and patient safety. A Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians, Dr. Dodge has received numerous honors for her clinical and educational contributions, including multiple "Physician of Excellence" awards from the Orange County Medical Association. Her scholarly work focuses on simulation, procedural training, and patient safety, with multiple peer-reviewed publications and national presentations. Beyond her professional roles, Dr. Dodge is deeply engaged in her community through volunteer work, youth sports medicine coverage, and mentorship. Dr. Dodge is known for her ability to integrate clinical expertise, leadership, and education to deliver compassionate, evidence-based care to the Hoag community.
