Karin E. Reed

Dr. Karin Reed is a board-certified emergency physician who has been on staff since 2014 and practicing emergency medicine since 2011. She completed her Emergency Medicine residency at the University of California, Irvine—where she was named Resident of the Year—after earning her medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine and her undergraduate degree, cum laude, from Washington University in St. Louis. Dr. Reed currently serves as Chair of the Department of Emergency Medicine and Chief of Service at Hoag Irvine, and was previously elected to serve on the Medical Executive Committee. Her leadership work focuses on quality improvement, hospital throughput, clinical informatics, and multidisciplinary patient care initiatives. She previously served as an Assistant Clinical Professor at UC Irvine and has contributed to peer-reviewed emergency medicine research and national presentations. Dr. Reed is a Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians and has been recognized multiple times as an Orange County Medical Association Physician of Excellence. She also received the Orange County Supervisor's Women Making a Difference — Healthcare award for her leadership and protocol development during the COVID-19 pandemic. Dr. Reed is committed to providing compassionate, evidence-based emergency care to the community.
