About Dr Bruce R. Tammelin

Bio

Dr. Tammelin is board certified in internal medicine, pulmonary medicine, and sleep medicine and has been practicing sleep medicine since 1980. He developed an early interest in medicine while growing up in a home where missionary families were frequent guests. Their dedication to serving others sparked in him a desire to pursue a path rooted in purpose and compassion. A defining influence was his family physician, who cared for his family during a difficult period, including diagnosing his father's brain tumor. Through both that experience and his own struggles with severe asthma, Dr. Tammelin witnessed the profound impact of a physician who combined clinical expertise with genuine empathy. This shaped his commitment to practicing medicine with both skill and humanity. Dr. Tammelin's interest in sleep medicine began during his time in the Air Force, when the field was still in its early stages. Exposure to emerging research sparked a lifelong passion and positioned him at the forefront of a developing specialty. His approach to care is grounded in attentive listening, clear communication, and a deep curiosity about human physiology. He is dedicated to ensuring patients feel understood and supported, helping them, and their families, navigate care with clarity and confidence. Outside of medicine, Dr. Tammelin enjoys cycling, a lifelong passion that continues to keep him active and provides balance beyond his clinical work.
