Brian E. Laakaniemi

Dr. Brian Laakaniemi is board certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine and has been a member of the Hoag Medical Staff since 2018. He earned his undergraduate degree from Bowling Green State University, graduating summa cum laude, and his medical degree from Case Western Reserve University before completing his Emergency Medicine residency at LSU Health Sciences Center, where he served as Academic Chief Resident.

Prior to joining Hoag, Dr. Laakaniemi served with distinction as a Flight Surgeon in the United States Navy, receiving the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal. His experience includes providing care across diverse clinical settings as part of specialized emergency medicine teams. A member of the American College of Emergency Physicians, Dr. Laakaniemi brings exceptional training, military discipline, and a deep commitment to patient care to his work at Hoag.
