Eric Cheung is Senior Vice President, Chief Legal Officer and General Counsel of Hoag. He oversees legal affairs and risk management across the Hoag enterprise and serves as a member of Hoag's executive leadership team, helping guide strategy, governance, growth initiatives, and enterprise risk in support of the organization's mission.

Since joining Hoag in 2021, Eric has played a key role in initiatives that strengthen the organization's independence, expand access to care, and position Hoag for continued growth and innovation. His responsibilities span governance, strategic transactions, physician alignment, digital transformation, real estate development, and other enterprise initiatives that support Hoag's continued evolution as a destination health system serving Orange County.

Known for his practical and strategic approach, Eric helps address complex organizational challenges, evaluate opportunities, and guide decisions that advance Hoag's long-term objectives while upholding its commitment to excellence, integrity, and responsible stewardship.

Prior to joining Hoag, Eric advised hospitals, health systems, physician organizations, and other healthcare providers on strategic, transactional, regulatory, and governance matters.

Eric earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, Berkeley and his Juris Doctor from the University of Southern California Gould School of Law. He also serves on the Board of Directors of Human Options, a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing healthy relationships and helping individuals and families affected by relationship violence rebuild their lives.
