Hoag Recognized as a Center for Comprehensive MS Care by National MS Society
This designation highlights Hoag's commitment to providing coordinated, specialized care for people living with multiple sclerosis
NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. (Nov. 6, 2026) – Hoag has been recognized as a Center for Comprehensive MS Care by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, a nonprofit that connects people living with multiple sclerosis (MS) to healthcare organizations that provide coordinated, multidisciplinary care and specialized support. This recognition highlights Hoag’s commitment to meeting the complex needs of people with MS through comprehensive, patient-centered care.
“Being recognized as a Center for Comprehensive MS Care is an important milestone for Hoag and a reflection of the depth of expertise we have built within our neurosciences program,” said Dr. Yasir Jassam, chief of neurology and Janet Curci Family Foundation Endowed Chair in Multiple Sclerosis & Neuroimmunology at Hoag. “What this means for patients is an added level of confidence and validation that Hoag is among the organizations best equipped to care for people living with MS. It also reinforces our commitment to staying at the forefront of advances in MS care to ensure patients have access to the latest treatment options."
The National MS Society’s Centers for Comprehensive MS Care program helps people with MS identify providers equipped to address the physical, emotional and social challenges of the disease. Hoag joins 12 other California centers recognized for comprehensive MS care. Early and ongoing treatment can help slow MS progression, prevent disability accumulation and protect the brain from disease-related damage. Comprehensive care models connect people with specialists, resources and support throughout their MS journey.
“Access to coordinated, comprehensive care can make a meaningful difference in helping people living with multiple sclerosis manage symptoms, maintain their independence and improve their quality of life,” said Renata Sahagian, Regional Vice President, West, and Executive Director, Pacific South Coast Chapter, National Multiple Sclerosis Society. “We are proud to recognize Hoag as a Center for Comprehensive MS Care and partner with healthcare providers who share our commitment to ensuring people affected by MS receive the specialized care and support they need to thrive.”
Nearly 1 million people in the United States live with MS, including over 74,000 people in California. The chronic, unpredictable disease of the central nervous system can cause fatigue, mobility challenges, vision problems and cognitive changes, making access to specialized care critical.
The designation reflects Hoag’s and the National MS Society’s shared commitment to improving outcomes and quality of life for people living with MS. Learn more about Hoag’s Multiple Sclerosis & Neuroimmunology Program.
