It is about managing treatment options according to patient goals.​ The Hoag Palliative Care Team is here for patients and families facing the challenges of serious illness to work in partnership with physicians and healthcare teams to make sure all needs are identified and understood. The Hoag Palliative Care Program offers inpatient and outpatient consultation with the goal of minimizing suffering and improving a quality of life for patients and their caregivers.

The goal of Palliative care is to maximize quality of life and focuses on preventing, treating, reducing or removing discomfort whenever and however it appears through careful attention to Pain Management, Symptom Control, Emotional Support and Spiritual Support.
