About Dr. Koressel
Dr. Joseph Koressel is a fellowship trained orthopedic surgeon who specializes in Adult Reconstruction, hip and knee replacements.
Dr. Koressel is a native of Southern California, where he attended Moorpark High School. He graduated from UC Davis with high honors, earning his B.S. in Neurobiology, Physiology, and Behavior, and conducted research in the Hull Biomechanics Laboratory, where he studied alignment in total knee arthroplasty. He also served as captain of the UC Davis Ice Hockey team. While attending Weill Cornell Medical College, Dr. Koressel received the Henry C. and Anne Hayworth First Honor Prize and the Sidney Viola Borkon Memorial Prize, awarded to the top student in the basic sciences and pre-clinical curriculum, and he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) honor society.
Following medical school, Dr. Koressel completed internship and residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Pennsylvania, where he was recognized with the Marvin E. Steinberg Award for outstanding work in adult reconstructive orthopaedic surgery. Dr. Koressel completed his fellowship in Adult Reconstruction at Stanford, where he trained under pioneers and current leaders in the field of joint replacement. He has authored numerous scientific publications on orthopedics and joint reconstruction in peer-reviewed journals, and he regularly presents his research at national meetings. Dr. Koressel is an active member of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. In his free time, Dr. Koressel enjoys spending time with his wife and son and participating in sports and outdoor activities, including ice hockey, biking, and skiing.
