Hoag is proud to continue its partnership with runDisney by providing support to the runners and spectators during the 2026 Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend taking place Friday, January 30, 2026 through, Sunday, February 1, 2026. Below are the ways Hoag employees can get involved.

Ice Bag Prep and Medical Tent Set-Up – January 28, 2026 5K – Friday, January 30, 2026 10K – Saturday, January 31 2026 Half – Sunday, February 1, 2026
Staff may sign up for one shift per day.
Clinical staff must be actively working as a bedside care provider. At least one year of critical care experience is preferred.
These are paid shifts and it is the employee’s responsibility to inform their supervisors of their runDisney shift. It is important that the employee schedules runDisney shifts around their normal work hours.
Please note that shift times start as early as 2:30 AM and are subject to change.
All Hoag policies related to time and attendance and absenteeism will be enforced just as if the staff member were working a shift in their home department.

Registered Nurses:
Provide assessment and first aid to participants in the runDisney races.
Collaborate with physicians, medical assistants/EMTs, physical therapy aids, and athletic trainers to provide care to participants in on-course tents and main medical tent.
Provide set-up, organization, and breakdown of medical supplies for each race.
Form documentation of care provided to each participant in the main medical tent.

Medical Assistants/ECTs:
Provide participant transportation via wheelchair or other vehicle to the on-course tents and main medical tent.
Assist with first aid needs (such as bandages, ice pack application, and basic ace wrapping) in the self-treatment area.
Bundle ice into smaller, usable bags.
Collaborate with physical therapy aides, certified athletic trainers, and others on the health care team to provide care for participants in the runDisney races.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will food be provided?
a. Yes. Snacks and water will be provided for staff. You are also welcome to bring food and water for yourself.
What will the weather be like?
a. Expect very chilly weather. Be sure to take precautions, including dressing warmly and in layers. Bring a hat or beanie to keep your head warm and wear and reapply sunscreen.
Where will I be expected to park?
a. There is a designated parking lot near the main medical tent. Parking credentials with location and directions will be distributed electronically to those who have signed up to work a shift at during race weekend.
Will I receive park admission for the days that I am working at the race?
a. No. Disney will not be providing free admission to those who are working a shift, providing care for race participants. You are more than welcome to purchase tickets and/or make a reservation for your own Magic Key annual pass and enjoy the parks after completing your shift.
Is this a volunteer opportunity that can be counted toward community service hours?
a. No. This is a paid shift for those who have signed up. By signing up for a shift you are agreeing to be present on that specific date and at the scheduled time, just as if you were reporting to work at your normal department/clinic. b. All policies relating to time and attendance and absenteeism are in effect for these shifts.
Are there shifts available for non-clinical staff at the runDisney races?
a. Yes. There are opportunities for administrative support and set-up/breakdown support that do not require clinical background or training.
Who do I contact if I cannot make my designated shift?
a.bYou must contact the Hoag runDisney team as soon as you realize that you will not be able to work the shift that you have signed up for no later than August 1st. Please email the team at rundisney@hoag.org.
What is the last date to cancel a shift?
a. Friday, January 16, 2026
What is the appropriate attire for this shift? Can we wear scrubs?
a. A runDisney medical staff t-shirt will be provided to each staff member who is working a shift at the races and must be worn as the outermost layer of clothing for visibility. Please dress appropriately for the weather. Layers are recommended as it is cooler in the morning and will be warmer as the sun rises. You may wear scrubs but will have the medical staff t-shirt as the outermost layer. The Hoag dress code guidelines must be followed. Please refer to the dress code for more details, which is available on Policy Stat.
What to Know
You will be assigned to one of the following areas:
Main Medical Tent: Central hub for medical emergencies and treatment.
Starting Line Corrals: Monitoring participants for any first aid or medical emergencies.
Family Reunion Area: Designated spot for participants to meet their families post-event. Family Reunion Area.ppsx

First Aid Tent: Providing immediate medical assistance for minor injuries in the Family Reunion Area.
SAG (Supplies and Gear) Tent: Runners who are pulled from the race can receive care and support here.
