What is a certified nurse midwife and how do they work with my OB/GYN?

    Kenneth James

The word midwife means, “with woman,” and midwives have been important and empowering partners in pregnancy and childbirth for hundreds of years. A certified nurse midwife has a master’s degree in midwifery care on top of their nursing degree. They care for women throughout their lives from adolescence to childbearing then menopause.

The midwives at Hoag are part of the Orange Coast Women’s Medical Group team of OB/GYN’s. They work collaboratively with obstetricians to ensure patient empowerment and autonomy in a background safeguarded by the best medical care in Orange County.

There are meet and greet meetings every two months with the midwives where patients can learn about all the benefits to the program and benefits of choosing a midwife as your provider.

By choosing a midwife, you are choosing personalized, woman-centered care. They listen to your concerns, answer your questions, and ensure you feel supported and empowered throughout the entire process.
