every element in place to ensure the safest, most comfortable and patient-centered
care available, the Women’s Pavilion at Hoag Hospital Newport Beach and the
Fudge Family Birthing Suites at Hoag Hospital Irvine, are home to Hoag’s renowned Maternal Child program.
Hoag Hospital Newport Beach
Hoag Hospital Newport Beach is home to the county’s largest and most
respected maternal child services program with nearly 200,000 babies born
to date. Since the
Sue and Bill Gross Women’s Pavilion opened in October 2005 over 25,000 babies have come into the world within
the walls of the new tower.
Take the
virtual tour of the Sue and Bill Gross Women’s Pavilion to view firsthand the
comfortable and spacious Labor, Delivery & Recovery (LDR) and Mother
Baby Unit (MBU) suites.
This exceptional birthing center was specifically designed to create a
first-class experience for all patients and their families. Included in
the Women’s Pavilion at Hoag Hospital Newport Beach is an advanced
fetal diagnostic testing unit; a 14-bed antepartum unit; 18 fully equipped
labor, delivery, and recovery suites; and a state-of-the-art Neonatal
Intensive Care Unit (NICU) providing specialized, around-the-clock care
for infants born prematurely, or with complications.
Antepartum Unit and Women's Surgical Services
The new specialty antepartum unit on the fourth floor is a 14-bed haven
for high-risk obstetric patients who require inpatient services. Comfortable
and quiet, this unit has immediate access to operating rooms in the event
of an emergency.
The 36 additional beds on this floor are used for gynecologic oncology
and surgical patients. To learn more about Hoag's high risk pregnancy

Labor, Delivery, Recovery (LDR)
OB Triage & Obstetric Emergency Department (OB ED)
Hoag's 18 private LDR (labor, deliver, recovery) suites are found on
the fifth floor of Hoag Hospital Newport Beach. These lovely suites provide
comfort during labor and quickly transform into fully equipped delivery
rooms for childbirth. The LDR unit has three C-section rooms and is staffed
round-the-clock with anesthesiologists and
OB/GYN Hospitalists.
Adjacent to the LDR unit is the three bed OB Triage and four-room OB ED
that services women over 16 weeks of pregnancy who come to Hoag via the
Emergency Department or physician referral. To learn more about OB Triage
and the Obstetric Emergency Department,

Fetal Diagnostic Center, NICU, Development Assessment Center
The 21-baby capacity Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is a "level
three" nursery which means it's equipped to handle every neonatal
complication short of heart surgery. To learn more about Hoag's NICU,

Postpartum Unit and Transitional Nursery
The 49-bed postpartum unit is a sanctuary for new families to recover and
bond. Hoag had adopted a policy of "non-separation" and newborns
room-in with their mothers in the spacious family-centered postpartum rooms.
The nursery is primarily used as a transitional nursery for examinations
by a baby's physician and for
circumcisions.
