Richard G. Quist, M.D., earned his medical degree from George Washington
University in Washington, D.C. He completed his internship and internal
medicine residency at University of Oregon Heath Sciences in Portland,
Oregon. He went on to complete a three-year fellowship in Gastroenterology
at University of California, San Francisco and then a one-year specialty
fellowship in Hepatology at University of California San Francisco. He
was a Clinical Instructor at UCSF in the School of Medicine, Division
of Gastroenterology as well.
Dr. Quist authored and participated in several research projects in Hepatology,
specifically studying effects of cirrhosis on kidney function and blood
flow and pharmacologic therapy for kidney disease in the setting of cirrhosis.
He currently practices Gastroenterology and Hepatology in Newport Beach
at Hoag Hospital and serves as co-director of the Liver Program at Hoag
Hospital. He is board certified in Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine.
Dr. Quist is currently a Fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology
and serves on the patient care committee there, which is committed to
community outreach and education in the fields of Gastroenterology and
Hepatology.
He is an active executive board member of the Hoag Endoscopy Center and
member of the Digestive Health Institute at Hoag Hospital. He holds active
membership in multiple GI societies including American Society of Gastrointestinal
Endoscopy, American Association for the Study of Liver Disease and American
College of Gastroenterology.
