Update: Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) and Diabetes Care
Update as of January 21, 2021
The CDC has identified people with diabetes as a high-risk population,
in relation to infections and complications from Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19).
To better protect the lives of our at-risk patient population and to help
prevent the spread of COVID-19, the Mary & Dick Allen Diabetes Center
will be making significant changes to the services we offer, effective
through May 1, 2021.
Services Available (via Video Visits)
- Insulin teaching visits
- Gestational diabetes (GDM) education
- Diabetes self-management, education and support (DSMES)
- Medical nutrition (Dietitian) therapy
- CGM and insulin pump training
- Virtual support groups
- Endocrinology visits (Dr. David Ahn)
Suspended Services
- In-person education
- Oral glucose tolerance testing

Financial Resources
If you or someone you know who has type 1 diabetes and has been financially
impacted due to COVID-19, there are various resources that can be made
available.

how to protect yourself, and what to do if you get sick.
