Update: Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) and Diabetes Care

Update as of January 21, 2021

The CDC has identified people with diabetes as a high-risk population, in relation to infections and complications from Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19). To better protect the lives of our at-risk patient population and to help prevent the spread of COVID-19, the Mary & Dick Allen Diabetes Center will be making significant changes to the services we offer, effective through May 1, 2021.

Services Available (via Video Visits)

  • Insulin teaching visits
  • Gestational diabetes (GDM) education
  • Diabetes self-management, education and support (DSMES)
  • Medical nutrition (Dietitian) therapy
  • CGM and insulin pump training
  • Virtual support groups
  • Endocrinology visits (Dr. David Ahn)

Suspended Services

  • In-person education
  • Oral glucose tolerance testing
